Welcome to November! This week we began our monthly theme of Gourds and Gratitude. We are especially keen on the gratitude part. Early in the week we made preliminary Gratitude Tree on a sheet of paper during Circle Time. Each child has had an opportunity to share with the group what they are grateful for each day. We've now transferred the Gratitude Tree into a more long-term location. Some things we are grateful for this week include:
- Mommy
- Passing out the water bottles ( a snack time job for the children)
- Little cookies in my lunch
- Wearing my new Spiderman costume
- Looking in the chicken coop (another classroom job)
- Getting a new silver surfer skateboard
We are excited to hear throughout the month about more family traditions for showing gratitude.

We have also been hard at work in the Art Studio working on picture frames for family photos that we'll display in our classroom. Each child has taken care to put together a frame in their own particular way, showing the us once again the beauties of process oriented art. Some of the "frames" are rectangular. There are also rocket ship, triangle, and princess shaped frames, as described by their creators.
Next week the Saplings will be making crafts for the annual Handmade for the Holidays Fundraiser to benefit our outdoor programming!
